Elijah is one of my favorite fictional villains. He defeated himself. All throughout the movie, his plans go as planned. I like David, but an ordinary guy coming to terms with superpowers has been done and done. I can't think of any villains like Elijah. Samuel L. Jackson does a good job of keeping him sympathetic even when he really shouldn't be.
