CoE raised all kinds of questions about where to draw the line in sacrificing for the greater good. My response has been all over the place--when I first watched the episodes I was sympathetic to Jack's choice to kill Steven, but then I read online reactions and got angry, and wasn't sympathetic at all. Then after my anger burned out I felt more sympathetic again.
