Definitely! It's British originally and the only thing I know about the US version is that they changed the rules of vampires (& introduced plotholes) in order to allow for more naked women/reduce the chances of their vamp seeming kinda gay. *eyeroll forever*

I might suggest skipping to S2... I love S1 a lot and it has a lot of great character stuff and S2 has an Evil Christians plotline which is stupid at times, but it's also a REALLY different mood from S1 so if you didn't get into S1... And if you're getting in there to enjoy the woobie-subversion aspect you might as well start later.
