Faith, of course. Faith is a complex, ambiguous character who is powerful and cruel as a villain. The thing about Faith is that she lashes out most viciously at the people who reach out to her (except the mayor--she trusts him for some reason). She's also a slayer, which means she gets great fight scenes with Buffy.

Drusilla is a close second, because her madness is so fascinating. She's the only one of the fanged four who never got any kind of redemption storyline.

Nice choice. I would probably pick Glory because her crazyness is hilarious and she manages to fight in tiny satin dresses.

Glory is pretty awesome, but I like Faith and Dru more. Oh, Joss and his crazy brunettes...

Dru never got a redemption arc, but considering that Darla's consisted of staking herself to give birth to Angel's son? Yeesh. I rather like that Dru's story is "incomplete" that she fades into the shadows but remains her own woman; she becomes the opposite of Buffy, standing in the sun in Chosen, remaining her own woman. Both get to carve out their own lives, "unfinished, incomplete" - their lives are their art.

I have a soft spot for Darla killing herself for Connor, but in a show where three women die of mystical pregnancies, I can understand why people don't share the sentiment.

I wish we'd gotten more Dru (it would have been neat to see her interact with souled Spike) but I like that she got no redemption storyline.

Your last sentence is very pretty.

Thank you! I stole it from myself actually - I had notes on a Dru & Buffy meta in my notebooks I'd been planning but it got away from me. Someday....

Faith ♥ ♥ ♥

I am so glad Dru never got a redemption storyline. Partly because she's awesome as-is, and partly because I fear it would end up very victim-blamey and unpleasant. Darla, Angel, and Spike all chose to be vampires, all said "yes" to it. For Drusilla, it was another thing Angel took from her. She's a victim forever (while being strong and loved and wonderful) and doesn't need, can't have redemption in that sense.

That's an interesting thought. Of course, Darla, Angel and Spike didn't really know what they were agreeing to, but they weren't victimized the way Dru was.
