I really like how Encanto follows through on the idea that if a child feels she has no worth due to her lack of magical gifts, then the children with the gifts feel they have no worth without them. It seems from my internet browsing that prior to the movie some people wanted Mirabel to get her own gift in the end, and I'm really glad they didn't go that route because it would have given the implication, that oh, Mirabel has a gift now, now she finally matters! Instead she earns respect because of who she is.

Also: I love that Luisa is female. She's the type of character who you would expect to be a brother, not a sister, so I'm glad the movie made her sister!
