Music shuffle - go to your favorite source of music that can be shuffled. Your main Spotify playlist, iTunes, your YouTube music playlist. Hit shuffle. Write down the first line of the first twenty songs that come up. When people visit your journal, they can guess what the songs are. Strike through the ones that have been guessed with the guesser's name at the end of the line.
I have a list of songs that I liked to listen to, so instead of shuffling I am going to generate random numbers and pull from my list

At some point either my sister or I decided that everyone in the family should have A Song that was Their Song. I picked Chasing the Sun Sara Bareilles - I do love hanging out in cemeteries.

And we're done!

When I was a child, I listened to a kids' radio program called Radio AAHS at night. When I lay awake afraid of the monsters that lurked in my closet, You've Got a Friend would come up. I'm not sure if it was the Carole King version, but it was definitely a woman singing. I felt like she was singing to me, and it made me feel safe.

( All you have to do is call / and I'll be there )

John Lennon hated the sound of his own voice. Which is a shame, because he had an incredible voice. Here is his cover of Stand By Me.

I didn't want to go for the obvious, but I can't think of anything besides the obvious.
You Never Give Me Your Money, by the Beatles
( And in the middle of negotiations / You break down )

These are hard!
I don't normally think about songs in terms of what other people "should" listen to. However these acoustic version of Anna Nalick's Breathe (2 AM) is really gorgeous, so certainly anyone who is a fan of her music should listen.
( You're just as far in as you'll ever be out )

I am not 100% sure what this means.
I guess I will do Fight Song, by Rachel Platten. It seems like the kind of forward-looking, optimistic song they have in mind.
( Starting right now I'll be strong )

I don't get the ending, but I still like the song
Preston Miller, but Tracy Grammer

Violet by Hole
I have a general idea that this song is about being a victim, but lots of different ideas about what kind of victimization it is about.
( Go on take everything )

I accidentally did Day 19 for Day 18, so now I will do Day 18 for Day 19.
I was thrilled to discover one of my favorite songs was released in 1989.
We Didn't Start the Fire, Billy Joel
I had the lyrics to this song memorized at one point, not sure if I still do.
( No, we didn't light it but we tried to fight it )

Call You Mine by The Chainsmokers ft. Bebe Rexha
Just for these lines:
You said, "Hey, whatcha doing for the rest of your life?"
And I said, "I don't even know what I'm doing tonight"

Danny Boy is a beautiful song. The version I'm going to choose is by Dennis Day, the tenor on the Jack Benny program, a comedy radio program that ran from 1932-1955. I had an unusual childhood - it involved a lot of Jack Benny.
( I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow )

Total Eclipse of the Heart was originally by Bonnie Tyler, but my favorite version is by American Idol contestant Carly Smithson.
( Once up a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart )

I don't know that I'll ever get married, and if I do I might follow in my parents' footsteps and get hitched at the courthouse over my lunch hour. But I did have a wedding of some sort - well, this song is a little racy and a lot romantic.
