Day #05: Least favourite female character
Yes, I'm doing these out of order, because I missed one.

My least favorite female character Tara. I don't dislike her; I just don't like her She doesn't have the interesting flaws that the other characters have. She's just a little too good for me. I do find her relationship with Willow to be quite interesting, though, so there is that.

I don't know if I would put Tara in the "least favourite female" question, but I feel kind of the same about her. I mean, I like her enough, especially for her role in S6, but I don't love her for some reasons. I think it's strange because I'm very similar to her in certain aspects of personality but - I don't know - I'm not passionate about Tara.

Yeah, as I said about Tara, it's not so much that I dislike her as I don't like her as much as other characters.

Who would be your least favorite female character?

I guess it would be Faith. It took me a while to become really appreciative toward her and while I really adore her episodes in S4 (Who are you? and This year's girl) for a long time I wanted to punch her in the face for what she did to Buffy (the "stealing her body" was really traumatic to me). I have this conflict with the character, a love/hate approach.

I'm not sure that I have a least favorite - I tend to be so oriented to the female characters in general. Oh, wait, Cordelia. By the time I started to warm up to her and the writers gave her more layers, they had Xander cheat on her with Willow, she got impaled and broke up with him, so that pushed her a bit out of the SG circle. I hear she got a nice arc at first on AtS but it sounds like they ended things horribly and I can't bear to watch it. Even if I don't like a female character in the Jossverse I don't enjoy them being treated like shit.

I love Faith, but I get why people don't. She has a tendency to respond to people reaching out to her by lashing out st them, often in a very cruel way.

Funny thing--the first time I saw the AtS episode where Spike is pretending to want to switch bodies with Angel in order to trick the villain of the piece, I actually thought to myself "Spike wouldn't switch bodies with Angel! He knows how traumatized Buffy was when Faith did it to her!" This is my fanon, that Buffy told Spike about the body-swap and how upsetting it was for her, and that's partly why he turned against Faith so abruptly in "Touched".

Nice headcanon! XD
The body swap thing is my great obstacle in loving Faith - and, as you say, how she reacts when people tries to connect with her. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm so different from her I don't feel enough connection. But TYG and WAY are two of the most beautiful episodes ever and that's because of Faith. So I'm torn. I like her better in the comics and generally after she turns into a "good slayer". And Fuffy is hot. (Even if the name of the ship is ridiculous)

Aw, I love Cordy! She's funny and intelligent (even if she hides it) and more than a little mean, which works for me in fictional characters But I wasn't happy with what they did with her on AtS, and some of it is very questionable from a feminist perspective.

What I've read about what happens to the women on AtS in general just from what I've READ has kept me away from it besides a couple of episodes. (Darla staking herself to give birth to Connor? Riiiight, I really wanna see that *note sarcasm*)It's beyond "questionable" to me. Too bad because from what little I saw, Cordy had become someone I wanted to continue watching, and I wanted to see the Angel & Cordy dynamic - so much more interesting than Angel with Buffy *zzzzzz* Knowing what they do to her however? No way.
