Bearing in mind that it has been a long time since I read the Beard, Robertson is a strong proponent of returning the marbles and has the most up-to-date arguments. Christopher Hitchens' book arguing for the returning of the marbles is the classic, but it's out of date.
My biggest problem with Robertson is he sometimes makes the argument that the marbles are special and returning them wouldn't set a precedent for returning other items. Which is strange because other times he does argue that other objects need to be repatriated? Anyway, I've seen the argument that the marbles are special before, and I don't like it, and honestly suspect it of racism.
I went to the British Museum a lot when I visited London, and I love it, but yeah, problematic.
