I saw Frozen yesterday. It was delightful.

I had heard that this movie was based off of Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, so I kept expecting it to be the same story as the original fairy tale. We get the snow queen and her icy castle, and the quest to the castle to find a loved one who had emotionally withdrawn prior to disappearing, and the idea of a shard stuck in someone's heart. The similarities end there.

Things I liked: I really liked the focus on the relationships between the two sisters. I liked the mockery of the whole love-at-first-sight idea. The snowman was very funny. I liked that there was no main villain character; there are a couple of villainous characters, but the main villain in the story is Elsa's uncontrollable power.

Things I didn't like: I was a little disappointed that the love triangle they were obviously building up to was resolved by Hans turning out to be evil, but then, this is a Disney movie. I also thought that the songs were weak.

Now I want to read Elsa and Anna fic. I'm sure it's been written, I just have to find it.

I don't recall anything particularly scary, but kids are scared by the oddest things. There's a monster made out of snow at one point who attacks the protagonists. I saw it with a group of adults and teenagers, so I don't know how a five-year-old would react.
