In Lover's Walk, Spike famously mocks Buffy and Angel's claim to be friends: "You're not friends. You'll never be friends. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends."

Some fans have pointed out this is also an accurate description of Buffy and Spike's future relationship. I see where they are coming from, but I don't think that's quite true.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6 is my favorite season. Season 5, a close second, is less flawed, but I find S6 more interesting. Ironically, season 6 possibly the season that I was most spoiled for. I knew about Buffy's depression from being pulled from heaven. I knew about her violent sexual relationship with Spike, the rape attempt, the soul. I knew about Tara's death, Willows turn to darkness, and Xander saving her with love. I think I even knew about Xander leaving Anya at the alter.

But there were things I didn’t know, things that surprised me, and one of them was this: Buffy and Spike's friendship in early S6.

It was a pleasant, pleasant surprise.

I miss Buffy/Angel as a couple. Lol, I need to watch Buffy and Angel again sometime.

I could never end up liking Spike for some odd reason.

I HATED Buffy/Angel as a couple, but weirdly warmed up to them after they broke up, and even moreso after I became a Buffy/Spike shipper.

Ah, really? Lol main reason why I got into the show really. I fell for Angel, then got to like Buffy when they got together. I tend to fall for the geeks in the background sometimes before the main characters.

I always liked both Angel and Buffy - just not together.

I love Buffy/Angel up 'til she puts that sword in him to close Acathla. I could never get on board with the relationship in season 3. I was still kinda sad when he left but I thought it was weird that it took Joyce for him to "wake up" to that decision.

Yeah - I thought it was weird that after stalking her, dating her, and sleeping with her while she was underage, Angel finally decides to leave her for her own good when she's actually old enough to begin making her own decisions. I wasn't sad when he left, but I knew he was getting his own show.

All through the relationship, and even before, Angel kept saying how they shouldn't, how he should stay away and all but we all know how that worked out. You would think that after Angel turning bad would be enough of a cold shower for them not to get back into it but nope.
