I'm doing partial re-watch of Angel the series, just finished Spin the Bottle (love that episode, so funny!). The thing that strikes me the most is I actually like Lorne this time. Lorne is traditionally one of my least favorite characters in the Buffyverse, but...I really felt for him in The House Always Wins. I'm actually connecting to him in a way I never have before.

Oh, I don't think Lorne is a bad person, or anything. More he represents my frustration with how AtS handles demons. There's scene in Forgiving where Angel is torturing a kidnapped employee of Wolfram and Hart. Lorne says to him: "Angel, this isn't some slimy demon you've got trussed up here -- he's a human." For a long time, that broke my ability to take Lorne seriously as a character. I could justify the human characters as being prejudiced against demons, but a demon character telling Angel that humans have a sanctity of life that demons don't have? I was still annoyed by that line this time around, but maybe because I knew it was coming I was still able to enjoy Lorne more than in the past.
