How about Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

* How I entered that fandom
I discovered online fandom for Marvel comics before I watched Buffy, and I encountered a lot of positive feeling about the show. I held off for a number of reasons: I didn't want to get invested in a seven season TV show, and a lot of the character names sounded terrible. Then I watched Firefly and loved it and there were the first three seasons of Buffy, just hanging out on Hulu. The rest is history.

* Favorite character
Since my first watch of Dead Things, my girl Buffy Summers.

* Least favorite character
I have problems with Anya, Tara, and Riley.

* First character I fell in love with
My original favorite back in Season 1 was Cordelia, but when I fill majorly deeply for the show in season 5, it was Spike.

* The character who is the most like me
Probably Willow. I used to saw that Willow has sort of an exaggerated version of my own flaws. I don't know if I still feel that way, but still - probably Willow.

* OTP(s)
Buffy/Spike. Runners-up include Xander/Cordelia, Willow/Oz, and Buffy/Faith.

* Favorite friendship/family relationship
Willow & Oz, but I do love Buffy & Dawn!

* Favorite quote
Just one? Fine. Right this moment, I'll go for "I cannot believe that you, of all people, are trying to Scully me."

* Favorite location
I like the graveyard scenes. I like graveyards.

* Favorite scene (or episode, or book)
Favorite episode is Dead Things. Favorite scene is hard to pick, but I do like that sweet scene between Buffy and Spike in Hell's Bells.

* Favorite thing about the fandom
There is so much of it, even now. and it is so diverse.

* Unpopular opinion
I like Goodbye Iowa.

* Something I would change about the canon
Better writing on Dawn. Specifically, exploring her key angst for at least one more season. Also writing her as more grown-up, more like an actual 14-year-old, in The Real Me.

* Random thought about this canon
I love how this show and Angel have minor characters that have their own stuff going on and develop through the seasons. Harmony,Jonathan, Lily/Chantrelle/Anne

I used to saw that Willow has sort of an exaggerated version of my own flaws.

Same. I don't often find characters who actively remind me of myself, but Willow is one to a degree that compelled me to make an icon, even.

I love how this show and Angel have minor characters that have their own stuff going on and develop through the seasons. Harmony,Jonathan, Lily/Chantrelle/Anne

This was unexpectedly lovely, yes!

Felicity? Or Jessica Jones if you prefer...

From: [identity profile] itsnotmymind.livejournal.com
It's been way too long since I read Felicity books, so I will do Jessica Jones.

* How I entered that fandom
Jessica Jones was my favorite female Marvel character, so of course I was eager to watch the show.

* Favorite character
Jessica, Trish close second.

* Least favorite character
I'm not sure I have one.

* First character I fell in love with
Jessica

* The character who is the most like me
I'm not sure any of them are.

* OTP(s)
I like Jessica/Luke

* Favorite friendship/family relationship
Jessica and Trish

* Favorite quote
Even after later events, it still touches me: "I'm no the hero you wanted me to me." "You are exactly the hero I wanted you to me."

* Favorite location
Jessica's apartment

* Favorite scene (or episode, or book)
I think it's AKA I've Got the Blues, the one where we got Trish and Jessica backstory and Trish takes those pills and almost dies. Favorite scene would be the scene where Jessica kills Kilgrave

* Favorite thing about the fandom
I'm actually not heavily involved in the fandom, so I cannot say.

* Unpopular opinion
See above

* Something I would change about the canon
I've have mixed feelings about lot of things in seasons 2 & 3, but I think I would have to rewatch them to give a more detailed answer.

* Random thought about this canon
Season one was better than the comics that inspired it.

* How I entered that fandom

Saw Serenity at an acquaintance's house as a teenager. Went online and found it it was based off of a TV show, and got really curious. Still, made no attempt to actually seek it out. One day my father brought home the whole DVD set from the library (for himself, but he ended up disliking it). I sat down to watch it, and the rest is history.

* Favorite character
I don't think I've ever had a single favorite character for this show. These days I'd say Mal, Jayne, Kaylee, River

* Least favorite character
I wasn't crazy about YoSaffBridge

* First character I fell in love with
I can't remember. Maybe River, in the movie? But I think "love" was too strong a word at that point. Or maybe the Operative, actually. I really liked him.

* The character who is the most like me
I'm nothing like the Operative, and yet...I'm always fascinated by self-righteous characters because I think I have that in me.

* OTP(s)
I mean, I like Zoe/Walsh. Non-Canonically, Mal/Jayne

* Favorite friendship/family relationship
I could see Mal & Jayne as a friendship, and I do like Mal & Zoe. Also Simon & River can be very sweet.

* Favorite quote
Again, TOO MANY. First thing that comes to mind is this: "Dear diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

* Favorite location
Is the entirety of Serenity a cheat?

* Favorite scene (or episode, or book)
Mal almost killing Jayne at the end or Ariel (few things make me more happy then one of my favorite characters almost killing another of my favorite characters)

* Favorite thing about the fandom
Likely because the show died so young, it's not a deeply polarizing fandom. No Spike wars, none of the kind of drama that you see between Sam and Dean fans in Supernatural.

* Unpopular opinion
All I can think of is my attitude towards certain ships, and I'm not so how objectively unpopular that is. But here they are: I can't seen Simon/Jayne at all and I don't feel right shipping River with anyone on Serenity.

* Something I would change about the canon
Rather continue the show than turn it into a movie.

* Random thought about this canon
I'm sure this has been said a million times, but I really like the feel of the world that they created. I don't know if the concept of "space western" predated Firefly, but the show is certainly the best example I've encountered.

Oho, that's actually more overlap than I was expecting!

Is the entirety of Serenity a cheat?

Possibly! but I don't feel like there is any other possible answer.

Mal almost killing Jayne at the end or Ariel (few things make me more happy then one of my favorite characters almost killing another of my favorite characters)

I totally get it, and the airlock scene at the end of "Ariel" is one of my favorites also! as well as one of the reasons "Ariel" is in the top couple of favorite eps for me.

Likely because the show died so young, it's not a deeply polarizing fandom.

This is a really good point! It does feel like a really, unusually united fandom (with I guess all of the vitriol turned against Fox for screwing over the show).

I am also not on board with River/anyone on the crew ships. And while I've read some Simon/Jayne fic (they are my two favorite characters, I had to see what that was like), I can't see it as an IC ship, either.

Great quote choice, btw! :D

Supernatural?

* How I entered that fandom
Heard about it online. Knew immediately I would like it, but avoided it for a few years. Partly because I heard about the misogyny in the show itself, but mainly because the fandom is full of incest and that is a squick for me. One day when I was struggling with depression and looking for a new fandom, I watched Hemlock Grove at the recommendation of my therapist. I liked it, but thought it was objectively terrible. I thought to myself if I was going to watch a show where all the women die, I might as well watch one that had a better reputation. So I started watching Supernatural on Netflix.

* Favorite character
Sam. Fucking. Winchester.

* Least favorite character
Crowley.

* First character I fell in love with
Probably Dean. As I've said, I read some conversations about the show, and I knew about Dean being overly fond of sexist slurs. I was expecting this macho guy, not an obedient son and caring older brother.

* The character who is the most like me
Probably Dean

* OTP(s)
I really liked Sam/Ruby, in a messed-up way. Sam/Amelia wins the award for best written Winchester brother/civilian woman pairing.

* Favorite friendship/family relationship
Despite (or because of) everything, Sam and Dean Winchester

* Favorite quote
Right now: "If I didn't you know... I would wanna hunt you. And so would other hunters." Ouch.

* Favorite location
All those shots of them driving off on the open road

* Favorite scene (or episode, or book)
Favorite episode: When the Levee Breaks. Scene: Since I quoted it above, I really like the argument in Metamorphosis

* Favorite thing about the fandom
I'm not feeling positive about Supernatural fandom right now. I guess, as with Buffy, it's nice that there's a lot of it, so a lot of diversity.

* Unpopular opinion
I dislike Castiel, Crowley, and Bobby

* Something I would change about the canon
There's so much of it, and I am not full caught up. But I guess: Less Castiel, Crowley, and Bobby.

* Random thought about this canon
I love Supernatural, but it should have ended seasons ago.

I’m not yet fully caught up either, I’ve seen up to season 11 so far.

And oh man I hear you on not being a big fan of Bobby and how very much that’s not the popular sentiment. He’s incredibly overrated to me when it comes to his grumpy old man schtick, I liked him in smaller doses, but I think it was around season 4/5 time when he started appearing so often and practically became their surrogate father figure over the more flawed and complex John. It was really such an eye roll moment for me when Dean rescued Bobby from literal hell and he’s just there grumbling about idjits like he always is. No offence to the actor who seems lovely, but it’s just such a one note portrayal to me and became so overused.

And Castiel is definitely another character who I found to be overused once he became the audiences fan favourite. I do dislike his moments of hypocrisy as well, the show seemed to have such a blind spot when it came to his character in season 5 calling out Sam and Dean being the ones solely responsible for the apocalypse
