Day #02: Favourite episode
My favorite regular episode of Buffy is Dead Things. The creepy atmosphere, the twisted Buffy/Spike dynamic, the geeks fully going over to the dark side (even if Jonathan obviously has his doubts), Buffy trying to turn herself in and Dawn and Spike trying to talk her out of it in their different ways, Buffy's weird dreams of Katrina in cuffs and Spike in cuffs, and of course Buffy's breakdown at the end, begging Tara not to forgive her. My favorite conceptual episode is probably Restless. I like Hush and I love The Body but Restless is about dreams, which are such fascinating things, and it does a great job with the dreams of the four main Scoobies. If I had to pick a favorite dream, it would probably be Willow's, with the amusing drama class and the revelation of the end of Willow's fear of being outed as the geeky girl she once was, with all her friends watching in contempt, and complete with flirting between her current and her ex

I love your choices. Restless is also my favourite conceptual episode. I love all the dreams, really. Especially the sequence with Tara and Willow in bed, the Giles' segment with Buffy smiling, Buffy alone in the desert ... such a gorgeous imaginary. Love it so much. And The Body also has powerful and visually stunning scenes.

The thing about Dead Things, at least to me, is that while I love the episode I find kinda painful to watch it and I don't do it a lot. I need to be in the mood to rewatch an episode like that, while I enjoy rewatching other episodes from S4 and S5 all the time.

It's a great episode.

The thing about Dead Things, at least to me, is that while I love the episode I find kinda painful to watch it and I don't do it a lot. I need to be in the mood to rewatch an episode like that, while I enjoy rewatching other episodes from S4 and S5 all the time.

"Dead Things" is maybe not my favorite (that'd be "Anne") - but right up there next to it.

There can never be enough written when it comes to love for Dead Things! In fact there isn't enough, so bravo for isnotmymind's choice!

BTW - I was thinking of you the other day when I was making a bunch of Anne icons (one of which I submitted to an icon challenge, fingers crossed!) and I've decided that for me, the single most FLAWLESS moment in the entire series for me is the moment she talks back to her oppressor, & reclaims her name/identity:


"I'm Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. And you are?"

Anne is my favorite season opener, but not favorite episode. But there can never been too much love for either Dead Things, or Anny.

My favorite regular episode of Buffy is Dead Things.

I'm always taken aback when someone else loves that episode *does happy dance* I don't think I am capable of naming a "single favorite episode" - I suck at lists, but DT is definitely in my top ten, along with Who Are You, which is echoes and bookends. (Sarah is so so good in both of those, so intense.) You already know how I feel about the ending scene when Buffy breaks down. Both those episodes leave me raw in the best way.

For special episode I also have a hard time - The Body, Hush or OMWF? I'll go with OMWF (I actually sing "Going Through the Motions" at home sometimes when I'm feeling depressed, to cheer myself up); although I love the W/T in Hush; the vending machine scene gives me chills every single time - and their handfasting is echoed by B/S in Chosen.

BTW - I have a question. If I wanted to do this meme on my LJ can I start from the beginning for myself or does whoever's doing it do it all at the same schedule? I haven never participated in one of these things myself.

Who Are You is awesome! There are so many great episodes to choose from.

I listened to the soundtrack to OMWF one time too many at work, and got a little burnt out on the episode. It's probably my second favorite concept episode after Restless, though, and may have been my favorite in the past.

As far as I know, there is no schedule. I could be doing it wrong--the possibility of a schedule had not occurred to me.

Probably a silly question - I'd never heard of "meme" until a year ago, and I assumed that a bunch of people would do it all at one time or - something. I'd be a failure at it as you've already seen; instead of "Favorite such and such" it'd be "Handful of Favorite things" or "Favorite season - but hey they all have their ups and downs, right?" ;)
