I'm sure I'm missing a good one or two that I like, but here's my top five of the ones I could think of:
1. Frank Abagnale and Carl Hanratty. Frank Abagnale Jr. is a real person - a youthful con artist who later worked for the FBI. Carl Hanratty is a fictional character invented for the biopic Catch Me If You Can. Hanratty is the FBI agent who pursues Abagnale but also develops paternal feelings for him.
2. Sybel and Tamlorn. I don't have too many mothers on the list, but I had to include Sybel from Patricia's McKillip's novel The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. Sybel is a powerful sorceress whose seperation from the rest of the world is challenged when a baby boy, Tamlorn, is brought to her to care for and protect from war-torn nations.
3. John and Dean Winchester. From Supernatural, of course. I will never forgive John for the events of Something Wicked, but that doesn't mean I don't find his relationships with his sons fascinating. I picked Dean over Sam because I think their relationship is deeper and more complex.
4. Mufasa and Simba. I absolutely adored The Lion King the first time I saw it when I was four. Mufasa is the wise father who Simba wants to be like but has to spend the entire movie learning how.
5. Giles and Buffy. I don't have any other daughters on this list, either, but I couldn't not do Giles and Buffy. A lot of my biggest memories of them are also Giles' worst moments as a parent: Leaving her in Buffy the Vampire Slayer season six, for example. But events like this hurt because of years of build-up of this relationship.
I will interpret this as fandoms I am actively consuming or creating in:
1. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - I'm still making my way through the manga
2. The Fall of the House of Usher (TV show) - I just watched it and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the story but it seriously freaks me out and I don't think I'll ever be able to rewatch it
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Sunndydale Herald always seems to have something interesting
4. The Haunting of Hill House (TV show) - I'm working on icons for this one
5. Supernatural - I recently dug up an old fic I'd written and still have the idea I might clean it up and post it.
2. Mary Beard - My favorite classical history author
3. E. L. Konigsburg - My favorite children's author
4. Ursula K. Le Guin - She wrote Catwings. And a lot of famous smart books. But mostly Catwings
5. Brian Jacques - My favorite fantasy author when I was eight
Top five vacation locations:
1. Japan. I used to be fascinated by Japan when I was younger, and I love Japanese gardens.
2. Egypt. Seeing the pyramids and the sphinx would be amazing
3. Colombia. My sister is from Colombia as is my best friend's mother and I would like to go there.
4. Alaska. It sounds so beautiful.
5. New Zealand, because it also sounds beautiful
Top five accomplishments:
1. Traveling on my own for the first time at twenty-two, and spending two weeks completely on my own traveling though Europe
2. Recovering from being stuck in a cycle of psychotic breaks. The medication I takes a lot of credit, but it's still work to recover, repair relationships, etc.
3. Completing my bachelor's degree
4. Persevering in getting a driver's license and a car when it didn't come naturally to me and scared me
5. Memorizing all the lyrics to Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire
