I think my absolute favorite ship is Buffy/Spike. Is that disturbing? As for days, well, *points to icon*. Also, "Do you like the Ramones?"

Any ship that involves romanticizing incest. That's a major squick of mine. Attempted rape I can handle in some situations (aka Buffy/Spike), but not incest. I'm not claiming any kind of moral high ground here, but I can't handle it.

1. I hate how much Jack/Gwen from Torchwood is bashed, but I was never rooting for them to get together, I like their relationship as-is. I always found Xander/Cordelia a bit underrated - I definitely shipped them. Over on Supernatural, Sam/Amelia has its fans but also a lot of people who completely dismiss it. It's my favorite romance between one of the Winchesters and a civilian. Amelia is far more real than most civilian love interests, and her relationship with Sam felt more real because of it. It's a flawed relationship, yes, but how could it not be?

2. So when I was a kid I was not into romantic relationships in fiction, and I HATED how it seemed like in all the books I read, whenever a male and female character became good friends, they fell in love. I preferred male-male friendships for that reason (I don't remember finding many female-female friendships that I enjoyed). So imagine my horror when I discovered slash! I warmed up to it, though, and concluded that I could value platonic relationships AND non-canon slash relationships at the same time.

Depending on how you define "ship", the first ship I can remember was with Deth/the Morgol from Patricia McKillip's Riddlemaster trilogy, or comic-verse Peter Parker/Mary Jane Watson.
