So, in Reading is Fundamental, the Meg demon explains what she's about: "Look, I'm simpler than you think. I've figured one thing out about this world – just one, pretty much. You find a cause, and you serve it. Give yourself over, and it orders your life. Lucifer and Yellow Eyes – their mission was it for me."

But that's not true. In Born Under a Bad Sign, the Meg demon laughs at the idea that she might be motivated by a cause: "You really think that's what this is about? The master plan? I don't give a rat's ass about the master plan."

I also like the in BUaBS, the Meg demon rejects the name "Meg". It never made sense to me that she would have any attachment to that name.

Then again, I never did like Rachel Miner Meg. I like the actress well enough, but not as Meg.

'THE master plan' is different from 'A cause.' She chooses her own cause, not 'the master plan' given to her by anyone else. In that sense it makes very much sense to me.

I agree about the name. The biggest reason they use the same name is because that is how the boys called them, and also it would be very confusing for us if they to changed names every time they changed bodies.

In Reading is Fundamental, she specifically lists "Yellow Eyes"* as one of the people whom "their mission was it for me". That's not in keeping with a Meg who disregarded the yellow-eyed demon's mission in order to enact a complicated revenge scheme against Sam and Dean.

Yeah, from the point of view of the viewer, and of Sam and Dean, it makes more sense to keep her name Meg. But it doesn't make sense from her perspective, so it irritates me.

*Kind of a funny way for her to refer to her father, come to think of it. Then again, is the concept of demons having children ever brought up after Devil's Trap? Seems inconsistent with later canon.

I am posting my review of Goodbye Stranger today hopefully, and have written about the above there.

Maybe she just likes the name :D

I agree it is totally strange for her to refer to her father like that. I think it is a writing error. Although, there are always ways you can explain it. Two reasons why you might call your own father by a nickname is that you were proud of the nickname, or you were making fun of him by doing so. If she was very proud of her father still, and is proud of the fear that name conjures among hunters, then that might be a reason. Or, if she is too disgusted or hurt/angry with him for what he did to her, she might also call him that just so she doesn't have to call him father.

I'll try to catch you Goodbye Stanger review - it's been so long since I watched S8 that I haven't been keeping up with your reviews. And yeah, maybe she is angry at her father. I still wonder how she could be his daughter...were they related before they became demons?
