- Theories and/or headcanons (whether silly or serious or a bit of both - and yes, you can totally do this for closed canons)
BtVS - During the period in early S7 when Spike was staying with Xander and he and Buffy were not speaking, Spike ran into Clem in a bar. Clem revealed that Buffy had brought Dawn to Spike after Spike had left - after the attempted rape. Spike was stunned.
- Unpopular opinions (this doesn't need to be fandom specific)
SPN - When Sam went to college, I don't think he left Dean/cut off contact with Dean. Rather I think Dean, forced to choose between his father and brother, chose his father, and that led to a mutual estrangement between him and Sam.
- Characters you wish canon had done better by
Torchwood - I <3 Toshiko Sato, but I wish canon had done better by her. I wish she'd had more stories focused on her, and more stories not about her love life.
- Characters you think the canon creators liked too much
SPN - Crowley, Bobby, and Castiel

I've only seen a few episodes of Supernatural, but I know about the show through fandom osmosis and that sounds very much like Dean. From what I recall, he only goes back to Sam in the first place because John has gone missing. Supporting John is a no-brainer to Dean, whereas Sam understands that he was abusive towards them. (Perhaps more to Sam?)

YES. It was weird too how she suddenly became the buttmonkey when originally, it was more Gwen and Ianto who were the odd ones out. (Gwen being the wide-eyed newbie, Ianto the seemingly meaningless assistant who, you know, just happened to be building a Cyberwoman in the basement.) Don't get me wrong, I liked their development, but wish Tosh's hadn't had to suffer for it.

I wouldn't say more so to Sam, although there was a lot more surface conflict with Sam. But I think John was fairly shitty to both his sons, in different ways. Dean later in the show does come to understand that John mistreated him, but that doesn't really start until after John dies.
